Pamela Jenkins, a 35 year old owner of the Cupcakery here in Las Vegas, was arrested at Burning Man an eclectic art party. Authorities in Washoe County were alerted by drug sniffing dog, at a check point just west of the event site, revealed that in fact Jenkins did have illegal drugs in her car. With further investigation it was found that Jenkins, owner of the Cupcakery in Las Vegas, was in possession of DMT and large quantities psilocybin. Psilocybin is the active ingredient in Magic mushrooms and DMT is known to be one of the most extreme of psychedelics.
The real tragedy here is that Jenkins had her 7 year old son in the car with her. She later stated in an email through her attorney Mr. Routsis “My family, friends and I go to Burning Man to awaken our consciousness and to become better human beings,” Not a great defense on her part.
Jenkins faces many charges including two counts of drug trafficking, five possession counts and a first degree count of child abuse/endangerment. The level three drug trafficking count is a felony that carries a sentence of 25 years to life.
On that same day 40 ‘burners’ were also arrested with fines that ranged from $100 to $500 dollars.
